"Researchers in New York
have "spun" the longest ever platinum nanowires.
The wires, which are 1/50,000 the width of a human hair,
could be used as webs of metal catalyst in fuel cells;
making the cells smaller and more efficient.
They report the technology in the journal Nano Letters."
